An insider shared information that the events of the new God of War installment may take place in Greece, not Egypt. The latest God of War: Ragnarök ended the Scandinavian saga, and now gamers are wondering what to expect from the new installment.
Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming says that the new installment will focus on a younger version of Kratos and allow players to see what he did before the events of the original game.
«From what I’ve been told, the events [of God of War] don’t take place in Egypt, but actually in Greece And this time it will be the younger Kratos».
Before God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarök (2022), the rest of the games in the series, starting in 2005, took place in Greece. The three installments focused on Kratos’ confrontation with the gods of Olympus and their destruction, and God of War: Chains of Olympus (2008) told how the main character used to serve the gods. God of War: Ghost of Sparta (2010) revealed Kratos’ past and his connection to Sparta.
The insider speculated on what this Santa Monica Studio project will actually be. It’s not sure if the new part has anything to do with remakes or remasters of the original trilogy, which were rumored earlier, or it will be a reboot or prequel
The next part can tell you about the younger Kratos and his relationship with his father. It is not known whether this is Zeus or one of the people of Sparta.
«Perhaps the storyline is more like his relationship with his father,» Henderson said.
The insider added that he had received this information from an unnamed source and urged not to believe it immediately «all one hundred».
«Yes, that’s what I’m hearing now, but like I said, don’t go too far with it», — he clarifies.
In January, another insider, Daniel Richtman, said on Patreon that Sony is casting actors from the Middle East for an unknown AAA game and suggested that it could be «God of War in the [setting of] Egyptian mythology». Previously, there were concepts that Kratos explored the deserts of Egypt and ancient cities, but the team decided to develop the Norse saga.
There are rumors that During the upcoming PlayStation State of Play event, Sony will announce the details of the new God of War installment. But so far, there is only unofficial information that the company has not commented on.
