At THQ Nordic Showcase 2024, the studio showed a new four-minute trailer for Gothic 1 Remake. The video demonstrates the game’s graphics on Unreal Engine 5 and gameplay elements, including combat.
Players of the Gothic remake will also play as the Nameless One. The convict will travel through a world of criminals, strange animals, and magic in an attempt to not to rake to stay alive.
The video is accompanied by a lengthy commentary about the game’s world, apparently intended for new fans. According to the developers, the remake will have a modernized combat system. The new battle system will try to adapt the classic game system to the present.
Almost five years ago, THQ Nordic released the first demo of Gothic 1 Remake for PC, which received a lot of criticism at the time. Steeling up to of new videos was more favorable. As a fan, the game in the trailer looks decent, the world is made interesting and attractive, while maintaining the original atmosphere. The familiar characters are nice to look at, and the music is similar to the original. The combat seems to be good, but it’s hard to say whether they didn’t make it more casual, since the combat system was one of the main elements in Gothic.
