Trailer of the black comedy «One battle after another» — with the crazy revolutionary Leonardo DiCaprio

«One Battle at a Time» — is a black comedy directed by Paul Thomas Anderson that freely adapts a novel by Thomas Pynchon «Wine Country».

The film, unlike the book, takes place in the 21st century, not the 90s, and Leonardo DiCaprio plays Bob Ferguson — a crazed revolutionary trying to save his daughter.

In the trailer, we are shown this somewhat erratic character calling his rebel allies for help, but forgetting the code words. Then a shot appears of Benicio del Toro, who, as DiCaprio’s sensei, pushes him out of the car on the move, Leonardo himself shouts «Viva la revolución» and begins preparing to fight his enemies.

This is DiCaprio’s first leading role since «Full Moon Killers» Martin Scorsese, who has been nominated for ten «Oscars» and is the first to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. It’s not the first time the director has adapted Pynchon’s works, as he has a comedy «Birth Defects» with Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Owen Wilson, which was released in 2014, but Anderson’s real fame came from the 2021 historical drama «Licorice Pizza», which was nominated for a «Oscar» for Best Picture.

Despite the critical acclaim, «Blueberry Pizza» failed to recoup its $40 million budget. It is expected that «One Battle at a Time» will be Anderson’s most expensive project with a budget of $140 million, according to estimates Variety.

The film will debut in theaters on September 26.
