Transparent LG Signature OLED T TV go on sale for $60,000

Unveiled at CES 2024, the LG Signature OLED T TV hit the market just before the next tech expo. As expected, the price tag is sky-high.

The Signature OLED T features a 77” 4K OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, switchable between transparent and opaque modes. It supports Dolby Vision and a 4K AI Super Resolution feature, powered by the LG Alpha 11 processor. It also supports 4K/120 Hz gaming, variable refresh rate (VRR), auto low latency mode (ALLM), adaptive sync, and a response time of less than 0.1 ms.

“One standout feature is the T-Objet, an Always-On-Display (AOD) mode that transforms the screen into a transparent digital canvas, perfect for showcasing artwork, videos, or photos with extraordinary color and clarity. Complementing this is the T-Bar, a sleek info ticker that appears along the bottom edge of the screen, displaying sports scores, IoT device statuses, weather forecasts, or song title info. The rest of the screen remains unused when the T-Bar is active, presenting a clear and transparent space behind LG’s ‘practically invisible’ display. For added convenience, T-Home offers an easy interface that provides a well-organized overview of available services, as well as quick access to apps, settings, and other functions,” states the LG release.

The TV is equipped with a 4.2-channel sound system that supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and AI-enhanced sound. All input/output ports are housed in a separate Zero Connect unit that includes HDMI (with QMS and eARC), Bluetooth 5.1, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 6E, and Ethernet. This is quite a hefty device — the Signature OLED T measures 1767 x 1044 x 262 mm and weighs about 60 kg. The TV is available in the US and some other regions. Over time, LG promises to roll it out to other markets.
