The plaintiffs are convinced that they have been deceived by Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has closed the game The Crew in March, making all of its content, including single-player content, unavailable to players. In response to the shutdown, YouTuber Ross Scott, known as Accursed Farms, wanted to file a class action lawsuit against the company and launched the «Stop Killing Games»
«Imagine you bought a pinball machine, and years later you go into your room to play, only to find that all the pedals are gone, the balls and bumpers are missing, and the monitor that proudly displayed your unbeatable record has been removed», — it says in the lawsuit. «Although you paid full price for this game, you never knew that the manufacturer could one day come along and, without your control, leave you with only a skeleton of what you thought you paid for».
The lawsuit also claims that Ubisoft did not «provide consumers with the basic courtesy of leaving the single-player version of the game» intact, and thousands of customers were left without any access to the game. According to the plaintiffs, the developer deceived consumers by selling them a supposedly complete game on disks, but in fact provided only temporary access to the content on its servers.
The plaintiffs’ claims include a declaration that Ubisoft violated the rules and «compensatory, statutory and punitive damages in amounts to be determined by the Court or a jury».
