On the eve of the release of the second season of «Arkane» Variety magazine revealed some details of the production of the animated series — including the money spent.
For example, two seasons of «Arkane» (18 episodes in total) cost Riot Games a whopping $250 million, making it the most expensive animated series in history.
«We’re more than happy with the cost it took to put on a show that was worthy of our players’ time,» says Riot Games co-founder and Chief Product Officer Mark Merrill.
Given these figures, it is now clearer why the show’s creators decided to stop with the second season (in June, they announced that the second season would be the final one).
The second season will debut on Netflix in a few days, but will be released in three chapters: November 9, November 16, and November 23. And one more piece of good news: both the first and second seasons received a Ukrainian dubbing.
«Arkane» — is an animated series based on the League Of Legends universe. It takes place in two fictional cities, the aristocratic Piltover and Zaun, with underground slums inhabited by the poor and criminals. An unsuccessful laboratory robbery in the former leads to a return to the world of forbidden magic. The plot of the second season will focus on the «escalation of the conflict» between the two cities, as well as the fates of two separated sisters, Wei and Jinx.
The series was created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, and the voice actors include Hayley Stenfeld, Ella Purnell, Reed Shannon, Amira Vann, Mick Wingert and others. The Ukrainian dubbing features the voice of Antonina Khyzhnyak (Motrya from «Catching Kaidash»).
