Underage gamer spent $1000 on games with an esports teacher’s credit card — he only wanted to help with a PS Plus subscription

In Jonesboro, Arkansas (USA), eSports teacher Stuart Simpson appealed to law enforcement because of unauthorized purchases made by his student.

In his complaint, Simpson explained that his student was unable to purchase a PlayStation Plus subscription required to access free games and online play. So he entered his credit card information into the student’s PlayStation console and bought him a three-month subscription. However, the boy abused this and started buying video games without the teacher’s permission.

When Simpson tried to delete his card information through the PlayStation website, he found payments totaling $1056. According to him, all these purchases were made on the student’s console.

It’s unclear whether the student bought a large number of Call of Duty skins or just a few games, but either way, the teacher was unhappy and contacted his credit card company to cancel the charges. Although the $1056 was returned, Simpson still went to the police and filed a formal complaint.

The teacher was lucky — his student was not as forward-thinking as one of the PlayStation fans who recently spent $2000to extend PS Plus until 2048.
