Ventiva ICE9 fanless ionic cooling debuts in Dell laptop

Published by Andrii Rusanov

Ventiva company showcased at CES 2025 their fanless cooling system Ventiva ICE9 in a Dell laptop with an Intel Lunar Lake processor.

The Ventiva ICE9 system is based on the company’s patented Ionic Cooling Engine (ICE) technology, which eliminates the need for mechanical fans and operates without moving parts, noise, or vibration. The ultra-compact ICE9 solution allows for the creation of laptops thinner than 12 mm. The compact form factor helps preserve the elegant design of laptops and equip them with a greater number of additional components due to the reduction in the cooling system size.

The cooling system creates air movement using the principles of electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow to move ionized air molecules in an electric field. The company also offers a smart temperature management system that continuously monitors the computer’s operation, providing more or less airflow depending on conditions.

It was previously reported that the existing samples of the Ventiva ICE9 system support a TDP of up to 25 Watts, and the company is working on supporting 40 Watts of heat dissipation. Ventiva is open to collaborating with laptop manufacturers and creating hybrid solutions that would combine ICE9 and active cooling.
