Netflix has published the first teaser trailer and the release date for the second season of «Wednesday» starring Jenna Ortega.
«Wednesday» — is a dark fantasy series directed by Tim Burton. The plot follows the eponymous girl from the Adams family at Nevermore (an academy for outcasts) and her attempts to master her superpowers. In the first season, the protagonist faced three enemies at once, and at least one of them, judging by the teaser, will return in the sequel.
The video initially shows Wednesday at the airport, where she is stopped by security and demanded to lay out all her hidden weapons (which, as expected, are many). Then Ortega’s character returns to Nevermore, where she meets her friend and roommate Enid, encounters a mysterious swarm of bees, and has a very creepy tea party.
«Where there is murder and chaos. You’ll always find Adams»,” Ortega says off-screen.
The main cast of characters returned to their roles: Hunter Duane (Tyler and the monster-hyde), the Wednesday parents (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman), Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley) and others. Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier, is not on the list — the actor was accused of violence and Netflix dropped him from the series.
Among the newcomers are Christopher Lloyd, Joanne Lumley, Frances O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, and others. The teaser also showed us Steve Buscemi as the new director of Nevermore, and we’re also expecting a cameo by Lady Gaga, whose song helped the Wednesday dance from the first season go viral.
The second season of the series will be released in two parts — on August 6 and September 3. Previously, Ortega teased that he would receive a special slasher episode and a reference to Stanley Kubrick’s film.
