US resident Donald Trump and his family, through their crypto project World Liberty Financial (WLFI), are actively scooping up cryptocurrencies. Six tokens worth about $65 million have already been purchased. The portfolio currently looks as follows:
The projects Trump invested in are:
- Ethena (ENA) — a decentralized platform providing stable financial instruments in the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem. Its main goal is to create transparent solutions for DeFi, like tokenized assets and secure investment products.
- Chainlink (LINK) — a decentralized oracle network that connects smart contracts with real-world data. With Chainlink, blockchain applications gain access to reliable external data for dealing with financial, weather, or sports markets.
- Ondo Finance (ONDO) — a DeFi solution that enhances liquidity and risk management for investors. The platform specializes in decentralized lending and supports integrations with other blockchain protocols.
- Aave (AAVE) — one of the largest decentralized lending platforms, allowing users to borrow and lend cryptocurrencies. Features include stable and variable interest rates, as well as innovative features like Flash Loans.
- Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin (cbBTC) — a tokenized Bitcoin representing BTC in ERC-20 format for use on the Ethereum blockchain. It ensures liquidity and integration of BTC into DeFi protocols, such as smart contracts or decentralized exchanges.
- Ethereum (ETH/WETH) — the second-largest blockchain by market capitalization, supporting smart contracts and thousands of decentralized applications. Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) represents a token that ensures full compatibility with other ERC-20 standard tokens.
As we can see, all the tokens acquired by WLFI are in some way related to DeFi on the Ethereum blockchain. This move is part of the preparations for launching the platform. The World Liberty Financial project started in September 2024, aiming to provide decentralized financial services, including lending and loans. In November, Trump’s platform received support from Chainlink to expand its ecosystem.
