Xiaomi 15 Ultra release postponed, company improves battery and cameras, — insider

Published by Andrii Rusanov

Unofficial sources report that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be released later due to hardware changes. Rumors suggest it’s about the battery capacity, and the cameras are also getting an upgrade.

Trusted insider Digital Chat Station has retracted earlier rumors about the launch of Xiaomi 15 Ultra at the beginning of 2025. He claims that Xiaomi decided to skip the January launch, citing optimization of the new camera. It’s reported that Xiaomi equipped the 15 Ultra with a 200 MP large aperture periscopic telephoto lens, paired with a 50 MP telephoto lens.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra also features two telephoto cameras, but both are 50 MP. Digital Chat Station adds that the upcoming flagship will have a one-inch primary camera, other sources say it will be Sony LYT-900, the same as its predecessor. The ultra-wide camera sensor for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could be the 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5.

The delay might also be caused by testers’ dissatisfaction with the battery size. Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro received batteries of 5450 mAh and 6100 mAh — a 5700 mAh battery in the current Xiaomi 15 Ultra test model would be disappointing. In another post, Digital Chat Station later wrote that the hardware flaws seem to have been fixed, without specifics, and then mentioned that Xiaomi 15 Ultra will indeed get a 6000 mAh battery with 90W wired charging. The likely launch window for the smartphone is February 2025.
