Xiaomi introduces WinPlay — PC game emulator for Android with minimal performance loss

Published by Kateryna Danshyna

Xiaomi WinPlay is a full-fledged emulator that can run Windows games on Android devices without an internet connection.

Currently, Xiaomi WinPlay is in the stage of internal testing and has limited compatibility — so far only with the Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro tablet (the tablet is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and has already been noted for launching Windows games through Winlator).

According to Xiaomi, the WinPlay mechanism uses the basic technology of Xiaomi HyperCore and launches games with minimal GPU performance loss (only 2.9%). On the Digital Chat Station video, you can view its preliminary work — despite the absence of an FPS counter, the Android tablet quite “smoothly” launches Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012 and Tomb Raider 2013.

Xiaomi says that WinPlay may “soon” be available for other flagship devices of the company.

The announcement also states that WinPlay will receive support for Steam and GOG, multiplayer games (up to four players), and peripheral devices, including keyboards, mice, and gamepads. Xiaomi has additionally optimized WinPlay for Xbox controllers to provide “enhanced tactile feedback and an experience closer to playing on the original console.”
