Liam Neeson has announced his retirement from action movies after 15 years of filming in this genre. The actor announced his decision in interview to People.
«I’m 72 years old — this has to stop at some point. You can’t deceive the audience. I don’t want [stuntman] Mark to fight instead of me in the fight scenes […] By the end of next year, I think it will be over,» Neeson explained.
The actor began his career in the action genre in 2009 with the movie «Hostage». The film brought him worldwide fame and opened a new stage in his career.
Over the past 15 years, Neeson has starred in 17 action films. Among them are — three parts of «Hostages», «The A-Team», «Air Marshal», «The Honest Thief» and «Retaliation».
Despite the fact that Neeson has turned into a «real money-making machine», he found time to star in Martin Scorsese’s drama film «Silence» in 2016. Previously, the actor was not afraid to take risks, and his filmography includes several powerful roles («Schindler’s List», «Kinsey», «Michael Collins»), but will he return to such a movie? Liam is currently starring in the «Naked Gun» reboot with Pamela Anderson.
