Counterpoint Research published the top most popular smartphones in the world, based on manufacturers’ sales in the third quarter of 2024.
Traditionally, the top of the list is occupied by Apple devices, and it will probably come as a surprise that the iPhone 15 took the gold. The second and third places were shared by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, respectively.
As for Samsung devices, this time the list does not include the Galaxy S24 Ultra (back in the second quarter, the model took 9th place), while the Galaxy S24 took the last, tenth place in the rating. Note that the Galaxy A35 with 5G outsold its predecessor Galaxy A34 5G, while the Galaxy A15, Galaxy A15 5G, and Galaxy A05 are selling as well as ever.
Interestingly, Samsung smartphones received 5 mentions in Counterpoint Research’s list, while Apple’s only 4 (the iPhone 14 also took the 8th place).
Xiaomi took the ninth place in the ranking with its ultra-affordable Redmi 13C, duplicating last year’s Redmi 12C results. In general, the smartphone can be proud of the fact that it has somewhat broken the duopoly of Apple and Samsung.
In total, the top 10 models on the list accounted for 19% of all smartphone sales in the world in the third quarter of 2024.
