Apple «major» to update MacBook Pro in 2026 — slimmer design and OLED display

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is preparing a «complete redesign» of the MacBook Pro for 2026, thus abandoning the traditional four-year development cycle. At the same time, the update, according to an insider, was generally planned for the next year, but the company experienced delays related to display technology.

The 2026 MacBook Pro will feature an OLED display that will provide increased brightness, higher contrast ratio with deeper blacks, as well as improved energy efficiency for longer battery life, etc. (compared to current models) and will allow for a «slimmer design for the laptop».

Gourmet has mentioned in previous reports that Apple is working to make the MacBook Pro thinner over the «next few years» — and is actually aiming to create the «thinnest and lightest products in its category in the industry as a whole».

As a reminder, last week Apple presented new iMacs and MacBook Pro with M4 chips, Mac Mini M4 in a smaller size, an updated line of accessories Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad (all with USB-C) and announced that 16 GB will be the new minimum configuration of MacBook Air with M2 and M3.
