Mazda is expanding its electric vehicle lineup by presenting a new electric crossover, the EZ-60. The first official images and some likely characteristics of this novelty are already available.
The Mazda EZ-60 electric crossover is based on Changan’s EPA1 modular platform. The same architecture is used for the Deepal L07 and Deepal S07 models, as well as the Mazda EZ-6 sedan (sold outside of China as the Mazda 6e). This platform supports various types of powertrains: all-electric (BEV), extended range (EREV), and even hydrogen-fuel (FCEV).
The design of the new electric crossover is in line with Mazda’s — Kodo corporate identity. The EZ-60 has smooth body lines, an illuminated Mazda logo, split headlights and LED daytime running lights. The car has hidden door handles, a sloping roof, and cameras instead of classic mirrors. At the stern, there is a Mazda inscription under two elongated taillights.
Judging by the published photos, the Mazda EZ-60 is similar in size to the Changan Deepal S07: 4750 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, 1625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm.
This model is also likely to receive the same powertrains as the Deepal S07. The electric version of the S07 has one electric motor on the rear axle, with a capacity of 160 kW or 190 kW (215 or 255 hp). Two battery options are available: 68.8 kWh (up to 520 km) and 80 kWh (up to 628 km on a single charge).
The price of the Mazda EZ-60 has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be higher than the Deepal S07, which costs from €18400 to €24270.
Mazda plans to sell the new EZ-60 worldwide under the name Mazda CX-6e. The novelty will be shown to the general public for the first time at the Shanghai Motor Show on April 23.
