Warner Bros. has shown the first teaser trailer for the horror film «Weapons» by the director of «Barbarian» about the mysterious disappearance of children. And the scene of them running away looks strange.
«Weapons» will be the next horror film from Zack Cregger, but this time it’s about a series of strange disappearances of children in a small town. All the missing children have one thing in common — they voluntarily leave their homes in the middle of the night at exactly 02:17. They go outside and meet up together, but it doesn’t look like they do it in secret. It’s pitch black and the road is wet after the rain, and children are running in an eerie manner, arms outstretched like angels (Naruto) and disappear into the darkness.
The plot of «Weapons» consists of several intertwined stories, but all of them are about children running away from home and what happens to them. The plot details are still being kept secret. It’s not clear how much «Guns» will be supernatural — the teaser only hints but doesn’t reveal anything. However, given the unexpected plot twists in «Barbarian», the audience is likely to experience something unpredictable.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Keri Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. The trailer’s voiceover is probably done by Brolin, and if so — he may be playing a character named Graff, the father of one of the children. At the same time, the voice of the first commentator — is not his: it may be a law enforcement officer or someone else investigating the disappearance.
The film will be released on August 8. Simultaneously, you can watch it on the website MaybrookMissing.com you can read more about missing children who are part of the universe.
The author of the film, Zack Cregger, is known as the author of some of the most famous horror films of recent years. Although he was a comedian in The Whitest Kids U’ Know, he is now better known as the director of «Barbarian». The film grossed over $45 million on a modest budget and made him a new player in the horror world. The success of the film gave him the opportunity to work on the script and production of the Resident Evil reboot (due out in 2026). So it’s no surprise that Cregger was paid an eight-figure sum for «Weapons» at the script stage. In addition, New Line Cinema literally snatched this project away from competitors.
