Disney has released the final trailer for the second season of «Andor» — the prequel to the movie «Rogue One. Star Wars. A» Story, which tells the story of a heroic group of rebels who steal plans to create weapons of mass destruction for the Empire.
The new video finally gives us a detailed look at the birth of the Rebel Alliance and prepares us perfectly for the depiction of the Gorman Massacre — a horrific event from the Dark Ages when the Empire attacked and killed peaceful protesters. In fact, this event will become a key one for Mon Montma (Genevieve O’Reilly), who will eventually publicly condemn Emperor Palpatine and his regime.
«It is interesting that Gorman is canonical, but completely undescribed. It’s a clean slate. There’s also some confusion about the massacre and what it is,» said showrunner «Andor» Tony Gilroy in a recent interview. «So we had a chance to recreate this really important moment».
The trailer, as expected, shows Cassian Andor himself (Diego Luna), Lutein Reyles (Stellan Skashgård) and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) giving emotional speeches about the importance of the rebel mission. Also featured are «newcomers» — Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk, reprising their roles as Imperial officer Orson Krennic and the reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO from «Rebel One».
The second season of «Andor» will consist of 12 episodes, divided into four sections of three episodes each — the first debuting on April 22 on Disney+.
