The Last of Us 2 remaster on PC receives first patch — more accurate aim and fewer bugs

The release of The Last of Us Part 2 remaster on PC went off without a hitch — unlike the first part, which took a long time to patch after its launch in 2023. But the creators are still fixing minor bugs.

Although the launch went smoothly, minor bugs still leaked out. That’s why Naughty Dog and Nixxes have already started fixing the game. The Last of Us Part 2 has received PC patch version 1.0.10407.714, which is already available for download.

The update doesn’t bring any major changes. Instead, it fixes four issues that players reported en masse in the first week after the release. The focus is on stability, control, and graphics.

Here is the full list of changes:

  • Changes to mouse input to better detect subtle aiming movements
  • The «High Definition» slider now has improved control over sharpening
  • Fixed a crash that occurred during playback in 1440p resolution with the surround quality set to medium
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when moving the mouse randomly in the menu before starting a new game

This is not the end of the game’s improvements. Therefore, Nixxes says that updates will continue, but it is unknown when the next — will be released.

In addition, not only PC but also PS5 received the update (patch 2.0.1). In short, after patch 2.0.0, some players lost progress in unlocked items — skills, additional holsters, and skins. Naughty Dog has recognized the problem and released a fix that restores the ability to unlock these things.

But there’s a caveat. If the save was made before April 3, there will be no problems. However, if you overwrite a save after 2.0.0, then, unfortunately, things can be lost. Naughty Dog has previously asked not to touch saves until a fix is released — and now it is, but it hasn’t completely solved the problem. The studio says that they are currently working on a separate fix for the No Return mode, where players have complained about missing skins.

In general, the PC remaster launch looks much better than the first part. The Last of Us on Steam has «very positive» reviews. At the same time, the game was released on PC to coincide with the launch of the second season of The Last of Us, which is scheduled for April 13. On Rotten Tomatoes the second season was named the best video game adaptation.
