A24 has chosen a screenwriter for the movie behind Death Stranding — not Hideo Kojima, but fans approve

The film based on Death Stranding is directed by — Michael Sarnosky, who is best known for «A Quiet Place: Day One» and «Pig» with Nicolas Cage.

Kojima Productions and A24 are officially preparing a full-fledged movie, and Michael Sarnoski will not only direct the film but also write the script Work on the project has been going on for two years, but now active production has begun. Death Stranding itself was released in November 2019 on PlayStation 4 and has since become a cult game. It has been played by more than 19 million people around the world. The player takes on the role of Sam Porter Bridges — a courier in post-apocalyptic America who tries to restore connections between isolated settlements after a mysterious disaster.

Sarnoski is currently in the final stages of working on another film, — «The Death of Robin Hood» for A24, which stars Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer. His previous project — «A Quiet Place: Day One» — was not ignored either: The movie grossed over $250 million at the box office.

Speaking of Death Stranding itself, the creators have recently shown a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and announced the release date — June 26. The game sequel takes place 11 months after the first part, when a technological breakthrough has occurred in the delivery system. The sequel to Death Stranding will continue Sam’s story from the original «in the new journey», where the combat system will resemble the Metal Gear Solid approach with freedom of action.
