Asus has unveiled a new version of its Surface Pro-like gaming tablet at CES 2025. The new version of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 2025 has received several changes both inside and outside.
The novelty has a 13-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 180 Hz (compared to 165 Hz in the previous generation model). The device has a built-in stand, a magnetic keyboard cover, and a transparent window on the back with RGB backlighting to show its insides.
This glass window is now larger, with a direct view of the motherboard. However, the biggest change for the ROG Flow Z13 is the move to integrated graphics. This may seem like a step backwards for a gaming tablet as gamers crave discrete GPUs, but Asus is equipping it with a powerful new AMD Strix Halo processor. ROG Flow Z13 can be purchased with Ryzen AI Max 390 chip for $1999.99 or Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 for $2199.99. The top-of-the-line model with Max Plus 395 has 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores, while the base model Ryzen AI Max Plus 390 has 12 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. The Z13 uses a redesigned stainless steel evaporation chamber to cool these graphics-intensive chips with a TDP of 120W.
The new Asus ROG Flow Z13 has a lot of ports for a tablet. There are two USB 4, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The Wi-Fi 7 module is responsible for high-speed connectivity.
Other improvements for the Z13 include a new detachable keyboard with larger keys and a more spacious touchpad. And on the right side, next to the power button and volume rocker, there’s a new ScreenXpert button that brings up a widget that includes controls for various functions.
The Z13 supports USB-C Power Delivery for charging, but that won’t be enough to ensure its full performance under load. Instead, it comes with a 200W power adapter that uses Asus’ proprietary and reversible thin power connector, as it does in the company’s latest laptops. Still, Asus claims 10 hours of battery life.
