After the AI assistant DeepSeek rose to the top of the Apple App Store, the company limited the registration of new users.
On a separate page, DeepSeek explains that registration is temporarily restricted due to large-scale malicious attacks on DeepSeek services. Registered users can log in as before. A banner with a warning on the DeepSeek registration page notifies that registration may be unavailable, but not limited. However, if you try many times, registration remains impossible.
Today, DeepSeek reported crashes and performance issues, which prevented users from logging in or creating new accounts. Now this incident is marked as resolved, but without any information about specific attacks, etc. Previously, it was believed that DeepSeek systems could be overloaded due to a huge influx of new users.
Earlier, it was reported that registration was only supported with Chinese phone numbers. But later, the requirement for Chinese numbers was removed. Journalists from The Verge report that they were able to successfully create new accounts using Google and Apple ID. Email registration is also currently indicated as available.
