Elon Musk admitted to cheating in Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 — now he should be banned

After the recent scandalous exposure of character “boosting” in Path of Exile 2 by third-party players, Elon Musk confessed to forbidden account sharing.

When asked by YouTuber NikoWrex whether Musk had involved other people in playing from his Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 accounts, the billionaire affirmed. With Musk’s permission, NikoWrex published a video chat between them, in which Musk openly admitted to sharing the account and trading for real money in Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2.

To the question “Have you ever leveled up [with the help of others] and/or bought equipment or resources for PoE2 and Diablo 4?” Musk responded affirmatively, clarifying that every time he appears on streams of these games, it is 100% him. As a justification he added: “It’s impossible to beat Asian players without this [account sharing],” — he added as a justification. Asked whether Musk personally leveled up the Path of Exile 2 character to the global top, he replied “No, I never claimed that.”

Musk’s whistleblower Asmongold, commenting on this conversation, says that when someone represents an account as their own, people usually think that all achievements also belong to the owner. “I think a lot of people would conclude, based on how he talked about it, that he did it.” The streamer even suggests that Elon Musk is indeed skilled at games, “but there’s being a good player, and there’s level 97 in PoE.” Moreover, Musk regularly boasted about being a top player online.

In the news about this conversation, John Papandopoulos from DSOG notes that given the direct admission, Grinding Gear Games should ban Musk’s account, as happens in similar cases with ordinary players: “I actually don’t care what Musk says. For this reason, we didn’t cover this story last week. I’m concerned about how the developers will react to someone who confessed to cheating.”
