AMD Ryzen next-generation desktop processors based on the Zen 6 architecture will remain compatible with the AM5 socket and will be introduced in about 2 years.
The AMD Zen 5 line of processors is not yet exhausted — on the contrary, is only gaining momentum. Nevertheless, this is not the first time that data on the architecture of the next generation Zen 6 has been revealed. In May, it became known that AMD Ryzen Zen 6 processors will have up to 32 cores on a single CCD. Now the same informant @Kepler_L2 said that AMD Zen 6 chips will appear in late 2026 or early 2027.
This means that AMD will present the Zen 6 line either in the fourth quarter of 2026 or at CES 2027, or maybe in a month or two. When asked what socket Zen 6 will use, Kepler said that it will be AM5. This means that AM5 supports at least three generations since its launch. Meanwhile, it is not known which socket will be used by Intel Panther Lake or Nova Lake —. And whether they will be released on desktops — at all is also not yet certain…
There is also no information about the AM5 socket for AMD Zen 7 —, but AM4 has been around for almost 10 years. AMD will not have any problems with memory in these two years and beyond, as DDR6 will appear on PCs no earlier than 2027.
