Steven Spielberg is to adapt Old Man’s War, a fantastic novel by John Scalzi

Spielberg is gearing up to direct an adaptation of “Old Man’s War” based on the sci-fi bestseller by John Scalzi.

The film is currently in development. Since it’s not Spielberg’s next movie, there’s obviously no casting information available yet.

“At the heart of the story is 75-year-old John Perry, who joins the army after losing his wife and best friend. His consciousness is transferred into a genetically enhanced young body, giving him a second chance at life — on the battlefield. But here’s the kicker: John fights alongside a younger version of his wife. The twist? It’s her body, but with someone else’s mind, forcing John to battle a broken heart while trying to revive lost love amid an intergalactic war.”

Currently, Spielberg is finishing up preparations for shooting “The Dish”—a sci-fi flick starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, and Colin Firth. In February, the movie will be shot in New Jersey. “The Dish” is based on an original story conceived by Spielberg, written by “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp.

Rumors say the film is about UFOs, with Emily Blunt playing the lead role. Universal has scheduled the film’s release for May 15, 2026.
