Tesla Model S Plaid and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra drag race — who won the sprint race?

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is incredibly powerful, fast, and about 35% cheaper than the Tesla Model S Plaid. So who fed the dust to the competitor?

A new electric car Xiaomi’s SU7 model has become a huge hit in China and is now selling 20,000 units per month. It has outsold the Tesla Model 3, its closest competitor, and now has a 30-week order backlog. The car provides a longer range and is cheaper than the Model 3.

Last month, Xiaomi released the premium SU7 Ultra model. At a cost of $72,800, the owner gets an engine with a capacity of 1526 horsepower. According to Xiaomi, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds. SU7 Ultra actually competes with the flagship Tesla Model S Plaid. A drag race between SU7 Ultra and Model S Plaid was organized in China.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra stalled at the start, which is not surprising given the power it produces, but the car still managed to catch up and beat the Model S Plaid.

The Model S Plaid’s 1020 hp can also be considered insane, and the car costs $112 thousand in China and $95 thousand in the United States. But Xiaomi’s new product offers one and a half times more and costs $20-40 thousand less. SU7 Ultra prototype wins the title of the fastest four-door sedan on the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
