The Monkey King was cloned: Black Myth Wukong will be released on Nintendo Switch for $8

Wukong Sun: Black Legend, which will be released on December 26 on the Nintendo eShop, has attracted attention due to its obvious similarity to the hit Black Myth: Wukong.

The developers offer a two-dimensional platformer for $7.99, which is significantly different from the large-scale three-dimensional project by Game Science. However, both games are based on the Chinese novel «Journey to the West» and have similar titles and promotional materials.

«Embark on an epic Journey to the West in Wukong Sun: Black Legend», — says the game description on the Nintendo eShop. — Become the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, as you battle a world full of powerful monsters and dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, filled with dynamic battles, amazing locations, and legendary enemies».

Users of the Chinese social network Weibo are massively discussing the appearance of an imitation game, Business Insider reports.

«Famous games have long suffered from imitations. Unscrupulous developers exploit the names of popular projects, repaint simple games and place them in large stores under similar names, deceiving uninformed consumers», — notes the popular news account Pear Video.

Nintendo and Global Game Studio (the developer and publisher of Wukong Sun: Black Legend) refused to comment on the situation to Business Insider.

Black Myth: Wukong, released this summer, dispersed sold over 20 million copies in the first month of sales.
