The «Superman» theatrical trailer showed Ultraman and the female counterpart of the Terminator T-1000 from the DC universe

The extended version of the “Superman” trailer is now playing before many movie screenings and reveals more about the film’s supervillains and the essence of the conflict.

The trailer features new shots of Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) surrounded by The Engineer/Angela Spica, played by Maria Gabriela de Faria, and Ultraman—who is battling Superman at an empty stadium.

Ultraman is recognized by the U on his uniform. The character’s body is covered by the costume, so his face is not visible. He also wears glasses that cover his eyes. This shot in the theatrical trailer corresponds to the scene where Superman, handcuffed, is led down the street by Ultraman, The Engineer, and Rick Flag Sr. played by Frank Grillo. Altogether, this gives a clearer picture of what Superman is up against, particularly the characters’ connection with Lex Luthor.

In the DC comics, Ultraman is an evil alternate version of Superman, who has the same superpowers except that he is powered by kryptonite and weakened by sunlight. Fans speculate that in the theatrical trailer, the trio of villains enters the Fortress of Solitude. Superman apparently tries to intervene, but the fight ends badly for him, leading to his condition at the beginning of the trailer.

As for The Engineer, the villainess Angela Spica, is not as well-known as most of Superman’s enemies, but she could easily beat them all. Spica is a member of The Authority group, also known by James Gunn and his team. She has taken over the title from a previous hero, also known as The Engineer.

Nanotechnology has replaced Spica’s blood and transformed her into liquid metal, capable of changing shape and creating weapons. Essentially, she’s a T-1000 from “Terminator 2.” All this information suggests that Superman is likely facing The Authorities in his solo film, set to release on July 11, 2025. More about other villains and heroes of “Superman” can be found in previous publication.
