The government plans to conduct an “audit” within the “Winter eSupport” program.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, those who applied for the payment abroad will be forced to return it:
“There may be a minimal number of people who will abuse this. But we will conduct an audit and, as in previous times, they will return the funds,” Shmyhal stated during a national telethon (via NV).
At the same time, he did not provide any details on how the audit will be conducted.
Let us remind you that the “Winter eSupport,” initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky (and already colloquially called “Vova’s Thousand”), is a way to “provide social support to citizens during the difficult winter period.” Within a day, approximately 2.5 million Ukrainians applied for assistance—64% women and 36% men, with every fifth application made for children.
Applications for “Winter eSupport” can be submitted through Diia — funds will be transferred to the “National Cashback” card (pensioners and people with disabilities of groups I and II can receive 1000 UAH via “Ukrposhta”). The funds can be spent on utility payments, medical services, transportation, mobile communication, donations to charity, etc. (more details here).
The payment of 1000 UAH will be one-time, but Zelensky has already announced other winter assistance programs.
It should be noted that applications for payments began to be accepted on December 1 — the same day that the new tax law with a military levy of 5% came into effect.
