Counterpoint Research published a new report highlighting the sales share in the global smartphone market from 2022 to 2024. According to the report, Xiaomi surpassed Apple and Samsung and became the fastest-growing phone manufacturer in 2024.
Last year was quite successful for the industry, considering that in 2023 smartphone sales were the lowest in decades. According to the report, the market grew by 4% in 2024. Although Xiaomi’s global share increased by only 1% compared to the same period last year, it surpassed Samsung and Apple, whose shares decreased compared to 2023. Interestingly, Xiaomi achieves success without a noticeable presence in the US—one of the largest global markets.
Counterpoint Research notes that Xiaomi’s move into the premium segment and focus on “innovative marketing campaigns” contributed to the growth. As for Apple and Samsung, even without growth in 2024, both companies still remain leaders in the global market. Samsung leads Apple with 19% of total sales. Apple has a share of 18%, but together both dropped by 1%.
