Despite the fact that Microsoft «major» updated Bing with artificial intelligence, users are in no hurry to part with Google in favor of another search engine — so the company decided to attract new customers with a kind of lottery, and this time they offered a million dollars as a prize.
According to the journalist Windows Central Jess Corden, Microsoft has begun sending out emails notifying users of updates to Microsoft Rewards, a loyalty program that rewards users with points for interacting with Microsoft products and services.
Points are earned when you change from Google to Bing, switch from Chrome to Microsoft Edge, play Xbox Game Pass, or purchase apps and services from the Microsoft Store — and then can be converted into rewards (for example, purchase some inventory in games or Xbox Game Pass). The updated program also includes a lottery that will randomly select a lucky winner from the total number of Microsoft Rewards participants and reward them with $1,000,000.
You must first register on the lottery website, and a maximum of 200 entries are available with a certain list of tasks (changing Google to Bing is one of them). At the same time, the lottery operates in a limited number of regions — the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
In addition to the winner, the second, and third place winners will be rewarded with $10,000 each; Microsoft also promises to donate up to $500,000 to the World Wildlife Fund and UNICEF ($5 for each participant who makes more than 50 entries).
