OPPO Find N5 durability test – thin smartphone breaks easily

When OPPO Find N5 has hit the marketIt was named the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. Many may have wondered if OPPO sacrificed durability for a thin body. Now, Find N5 has been put to the test by JerryRigEverything to see if it can withstand harsh conditions.

The blogger conducted his traditional OPPO Find N5 durability test. The video starts with a scratch test of the outer screen. OPPO claims that its new foldable smartphone has microcrystalline glass with 10% higher crystallinity, which should improve hardness and density. After removing the plastic protective film, a Mohs scale test showed that the screen starts to scratch at level 6, with deeper furrows appearing at level 7. This is in line with the glass strength of other modern smartphones.

The blogger then moves on to the internal display, which turned out to be much less scratch-resistant. It starts to get damaged at level 2 – similar to other foldable smartphones. JerryRigEverything notes that even fingernails can leave permanent dents in the surface.

Next, the smartphone is tested for resistance to high temperatures. The internal screen withstood about 10 seconds of direct contact with an open flame, after which irreversible damage appeared. The external display showed a better result – it lasted twice as long before sustaining minor permanent damage.

The most disappointing results, however, came from the bending test. During the first horizontal press on the back panel, a vertical line of dead pixels appeared along the entire length of the display, as well as a horizontal line of dead pixels on the right half of the screen. For comparison, OnePlus Fold, Pixel Fold, and Samsung foldable smartphones all passed this stage of the test. After an attempt to bend the device in the opposite direction, the internal screen stopped working completely.

Although OPPO Find N5 is unlikely to be subjected to such extreme tests in the hands of an ordinary user, this test shows that the ultra-thin smartphone is inferior in durability to its competitors. So it’s better not to sit on it and keep it away from open flames.
