James Wan, the creator of the «The Conjuring» franchise, has announced the start of filming the fourth and final movie in the popular horror series.
Wan published a photo of Patrick Wilson’s and Vera Farmiga’s chairs with the inscriptions «Ed Warren» and «Lorraine Warren», respectively. The caption to the photo is emotional: «It’s always good to see and spend time with old friends. Will miss everyone. The end of an era».
Details of the plot of the new part are kept secret. It is only known that the director will be Michael Chavez, who previously worked on the film «The Curse of La Jorona». So far, only Farmiga and Wilson have been officially announced to participate in the project.
The «The Curse» series began in 2013 with the film of the same name, directed by James Wan. The film told the story of a couple of paranormal researchers who help people who have been targeted by evil entities. The characters were based on real people who once investigated an alleged ghost in an Amityville house.
In April 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery said about the development of a TV series dedicated to the adventures of the Warrens. Although the details of the project have not been disclosed, it is known that it will continue the story started in the feature films.
The premiere of the movie «The Spell: The Last Rites» is scheduled to premiere on September 4, 2025.
