It seems that Marvel fans will have to prepare for big shocks in the upcoming «Avengers» — at least if we take into account the words of the new Captain America Anthony Mackie.
In an interview with Collider The actor shared his reaction to the first reading of the «Doomsday» script, which suggests that we may get an Infinity War-style ending.
«I was very excited. It’s one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries and has a cool moment at the end that sets up an exciting continuation of the Marvel saga,» says Maki, hinting at a cliffhanger.
In «Avengers: Judgment Day» Sam Wilson/Captain America Mackie will return to to lead a completely new lineup of Avengers — the task assigned to him by President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) in «Brave New World». In addition, the movie, which directed by the Russo brothers, will introduce Robert Downey Jr in the new role of the villain Dr. Doom.
In an interview, Maki added that, given the large number of characters (there are, by the way, about about 25in view of Marvel’s recent 5-hour presentation), no one is safe from death.

The new Avengers movie was originally supposed to be subtitled «Kang Dynasty» and focus on the superhero team’s confrontation with Jonathan Majors’ character. The plot details of «Doomsday» have not been revealed yet, but given the presented cast, the movie may focus on the confrontation between the X-Men and the new Avengers. By the way, the first behind-the-scenes footage has already demonstrated the character, who was left out of the presentation.
The premiere of «Avengers: Day of Judgment» is scheduled for May 2026, while the sequel «Secret Wars» will debut a year later, so the pause will be short, as the films will be shot one after the other.
