
Meta has updated the message on its Quest support page to indicate that due to a «software update issue, the Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets are unusable. According to the company, while most «users are able to use their devices normally, Meta «is actively working to resolve the issue for all» users.
The fact that Meta is now claiming to be working on a solution for «all» users may be good news for Quest 2 and Quest 3 owners. Previously, they reported that the company refused to repair or replace their headsets due to the expiration of the warranty period. Some Reddit users report that they have received emails from Meta confirming that they will be provided with service even for devices outside the warranty period. Additionally, a community manager on the Meta support forum wrote that Meta’s «customer support team should have new instructions on how to assist» users.

Back on December 6, Meta reported software update issues affecting «some new Quest 3S» devices. However, the announcement did not mention Quest 2 or Quest 3, nor did it specify which software version was causing these issues.
On December 9, the company announced the launch of its latest update, Meta Quest v71, which adds features such as an updated method for connecting to a virtual desktop display and support for end-to-end keyboard input in virtual environments.
