The new Rebellion — Atomfall — project has already been released to the critics, and the first reviews show a rather mixed picture.
The immersive post-apocalypse simulator started with 73 points on Metacritic, but on OpenCritic the score is better than 79/100 Atomfall is inspired by a real-life disaster in Windscale in 1957. The events unfold five years later in the quarantine zone of Britain, where Players will explore abandoned villages, caves and military facilities trying to survive among mutants and dangerous groups.
In general, reviewers note an interesting environment and freedom of choice. GamesRadar+ (90/100) called it «some of the best offline adventuring 2025 has to offer». GAMINGbible (90/100) has a similar opinion and emphasized that the game does not copy others.

Atomfall was given a low score by Eurogamer — 60/100. The reviewer didn’t like the «difficult start», but if you want to dive into the process, then «Atomfall delivers an intriguing tale worth discovering». The game offers different styles of passing, such as hiding, attacking directly or using cunning. It is the open world and freedom of choice that was highly appreciated by GameSpew (90/100).
The game offers a gloomy, atmospheric environment filled with interesting locations. In addition, Atomfall shows a story filled with mysteries and eccentric characters that make you think. У trailers showed hints of fanatical groups who created something similar to paganism, as well as huge robots.
But not everything is so perfect. The game’s mechanics were called underdeveloped, and the idea itself is not unique and does not bring anything radically new. Atomfall is reminiscent of other survival games, although it does not completely imitate Fallout or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Also, the artificial intelligence of enemies needs to be improved. However, DualShockers (85/100), on the contrary, praises the combat system: «Gun play is a stone’s throw away from Sniper Elite, but thanks to the survival approach, everything feels much more frantic and frenetic».
TechRadar Gaming (70/100) writes about the balance problems, but recognizes an interesting one: «Atomfall reimagines a jolly trip to the Lake District as a fight for survival, a unique idea that leaves a lasting impression». But Digital Trends (50/100) criticizes the game for «pesky details that will get you killed during a nuclear disaster».
In general, Atomfall cannot be called a breakthrough in the game mode, but it will not be the worst choice. Although the release will be a tough competition for it against the background of other major launches in February-March, such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Split Fiction or Monster Hunter Wilds etc.
The game comes out on March 27 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on Game Pass.
