An AI startup from San Francisco decided to «troll» people and run an ad urging them not to hire human labor and instead use artificial intelligence technologies.
We are talking about Artisan, a Y-Combinator-backed company that sells customer service and sales software. It promotes its product as «AI workers» and recently decided to advertise it with the slogan «Stop Hiring Humans».
Additionally, the billboards featured messages that mentioned the advantages of technology compared to ordinary people — such as «AI workers do not complain about work-life balance».
The idea of Artisan criticized and quite sharply. However, the startup’s CEO Jaspar Carmichael-Jack defends the campaign’s message, explaining that it is «dystopian, just like AI is».
«We wanted to create something that would grab attention — and that can’t be done with boring messages», — Carmichael-Jack added.
Artisan’s main product is a «sales agent» named Ava, which supposedly automates the work of finding and messaging potential customers. The company claims that it works without human intervention, and its «salary» is 96% less than the payment that a «live» specialist would require.
