Reality Labs’ losses grew from year to year: more than $6 billion in 2020, $10 billion in 2021, $13 billion in 2022, and finally $16 billion in 2023. The first quarter of 2024 showed a loss of another $3.6 billion. Despite the financial difficulties, CEO Mark Zuckerberg continues to express confidence in Meta’s long-term commitment to augmented and virtual reality technologies.
