Thermal Grizzly has introduced the TG Delidded CPU series of scaled CPUs and assumes the manufacturer’s warranty. As a supplier of scalping tools and products for scaled CPUs, Thermal Grizzly is a well-known brand among enthusiasts and overclockers. With the TG Delidded CPU, even beginners now have access to the world of maximum cooling performance.
The TG Delidded CPU series allows you to use a solution for direct cooling of the crystal ─ without the risk of damaging the chip if you scalp the processor yourself. Scalping, or removing the heat spreader, allows coolers to be installed directly where the heat is generated: on the processor chips or chiplets. However, since CPU crystals are very sensitive to damage, you should work carefully and use direct crystal cooling solutions such as Mycro Direct-Die water coolers or high-performance heat spreaders.
Since scalping a processor voids the manufacturer’s warranty, Thermal Grizzly takes over the warranty and tests the processors after scalping. A screenshot of this functional test along with a microscopic photo of the chip is saved on a USB drive and included with the purchase. The TG Delidded CPU series launches with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and will be expanded with additional chips such as the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D later.
