Thanks to its good price-performance ratio, the realme GT 6T has every chance of becoming popular among fans of mid-range Android smartphones. Despite the good numbers in the specs table, the realme GT 6T has a few nuances, which we will discuss in more detail in this review. We recently reviewed the older model realme GT 6which has several major differences in terms of processor, camera, RAM, storage, and software.

In the box, along with the realme GT 6T, we find a 120 W power supply, a white USB Type C cable, a rubber case, a paper clip, and paper documentation. There is a protective film on the smartphone screen. On the box, marketers did not forget to write that the screen has a brightness of 6000 nits
Many smartphones in this price range are made of glass and metal, but not the realme GT 6T. The body is plastic with a mirror surface near the camera unit. The front panel has a large screen with curved edges. The notch for the front camera is small in the form of a dot, located right in the center.
The realme GT 6T is not a compact smartphone, but it’s not the largest either. Thanks to the small bezels at the bottom/top, the review hero is smaller than typical budget models with the same screen diagonal.
The plastic surface gets dirty easily and doesn’t feel premium at all after glass models, although there are no complaints about the build quality. In the case, the realme GT 6T becomes even thicker, but not slippery.
There is a microphone, a speaker, a USB Type C 2.0 connector, a SIM card slot, a lock button and volume keys on the right side, and another speaker and an infrared port on the top. There’s no 3.5 mm jack in the pocket for those who like tangled headphones.
The screen of the realme GT 6T is the same as in the older realme GT 6 model, that is, a bright AMOLED display with poor viewing angles. It would have been better to have a lower resolution but good angle behavior.
From the side, the white color turns very green, and the image is distorted. This is clearly visible in photos, and even more striking in person. In this case, a good IPS panel would be appropriate and also cheaper.
By default, the realme GT 6T, like all other Android smartphones, offers a bright color palette, but not too realistic. In the settings, be sure to change the profile to «natural» to get an image without «Asian filters».
The manufacturer indicates a brightness of 6000 nits, which is completely absurd. The Datacolor SpyderX Elite colorimeter managed to record a ten times lower figure of 600+ nits in normal mode and 900+ nits in extreme high-brightness mode.
If a company writes things like this, it means that marketing is working because many buyers still choose their equipment based on the numbers in the specs table, choosing more megapixels, more cores, higher resolution, more gigabytes, etc.
The screen itself is not bad, and the brightness of 600-900 nits is enough for comfortable use outdoors on a sunny day. I was also pleasantly surprised by the minimum brightness, which is very low. For night use, it’s just right.
Compared to the realme GT 6, this smartphone has several differences. The younger model realme GT 6T did not receive a telephoto lens, and also stands out for its significantly worse portrait mode algorithms.
In the test with the glass surface of a smartphone, the realme GT 6T immediately failed, blurring pieces of the target object incorrectly. Macro photos also sometimes turn out poorly, not clear enough.
In some moments of selfies, the camera blurs the background incorrectly, leaving unprocessed pieces of the photo near clothes or hair. The older realme GT 6 model is a bit more stable in this regard, although the camera modules are the same.
During the day, the main and wide lenses take excellent pictures. The pictures are clear, bright, saturated, not too sharp, and the color palette is more than adequate. Digital zoom is a C-minus because the text starts to look artificial.
The wide lens behaves badly at night, blurring the picture, even though the photo itself is light. The main module takes good pictures, very light, as if it’s not 10:00 p.m., but the sun has just set.
When shooting 4K video, it is better to take care of a flat surface or a tripod because this camera is clearly not stabilized. The image shakes during intense movement. If the video is good during the day, but terrible at night, literally, the detail is low and there is a lot of noise.
Without exaggeration, 6-8 year old Apple iPhones shoot better in low light. Is it really necessary to pay 40+ thousand hryvnias for a good night video on an Android smartphone?
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor is almost the same in performance as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the difference is minimal, but this model also differs from the older realme GT 6 model in that it has less RAM.
8 GB is more than enough for Android OS and the most demanding programs, although you won’t be able to run several super-heavy video games at the same time and keep them in memory all the time. There is 256 GB of internal storage without the possibility of expansion. The recording speed is 900 MB/s, which is almost two times lower than the flagship realme GT 6.
The trotting test of the realme GT 6T is far from perfect. At first, the frequency drops to 80% of the nominal frequency, and after 20 minutes of high load, there are dips of up to 55% It could be worse because we tested the smartphone in the summer heat. In stress tests and the heaviest games, the realme GT 6T case heats up to 40-45 °C, and the power supply up to 50 °C when charging at full capacity.
Browser benchmarks show average results. 5.82 — a good result in Speedometer 3.0 among Android (Chrome) smartphones, but after iOS (Safari) with 30+ points, it is too low. In Google Octane 2.0 and WebXPRT 4, the difference is smaller, only 2-3 times.
Geekbench 6 shows the core performance at the level of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is very good, given the higher energy efficiency of the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip. Analyzing the results of benchmarks, it is difficult to call the realme GT 6T a mid-range smartphone because in terms of processor performance, it is close to Android flagships.
It’s hard to find a scenario (except for super-heavy and poorly optimized web applications) where the realme GT 6T will be lacking. Yes, there are moments when scrolling in the browser fails, there are rare freezes, but this is already the norm for the Android operating system, there is no fault in the hardware.
For mobile gamers, the realme GT 6T is a great fit. The review hero «pulls» all games, including the most demanding Warzone, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, CarX Street and console ports that are available for Android OS.
Call of Duty Warzone with high graphics settings (the resolution is still low, no more than 480-540p) delivers 60 FPS in most situations, although there are rare drops to 45 FPS.
In Genshin Impact, after an hour of playing, the smartphone heats up, causing the frame rate to drop from 60 FPS to 35-40 FPS. You can lower the graphics to medium-high settings, which further saves battery power.
Fortnite supports 90 FPS mode, but only at the minimum graphics settings, which in the mobile version are not much different from the maximum. Sometimes there are drops to 50-75 FPS, although this does not interfere with the game.
All other games run smoothly, and some casual games support 120 FPS. Against the backdrop of flagship models for 30-50 thousand hryvnias, which are advertised as «gaming» realme GT 6T looks profitable because it is just as good for video games, but costs 2-3 times less/
There is almost no real difference between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 because there are no demanding games for the Android OS. Perhaps, over time, AAA games will appear, like on iOS, but the list is tiny, so you have to choose among second-rate projects from the Play Market.
The phone runs on Android OS 14 with a proprietary graphical interface typical of BBK smartphones. The firmware has a lot of proprietary apps (some of them really useful) and interesting features, but it also has its drawbacks.
The realme GT 6T offers unobtrusive advertising suggestions, namely, recommending apps and games. In the main menu, there are corresponding folders where you can start downloading 12 apps at once in one sloppy motion by pressing «Download all». It is not possible to remove these advertising offers/
It’s unpleasant, but some competing manufacturers use much more aggressive advertising in expensive smartphones. That is, the realme GT 6T does not show pop-ups or notifications, but only offers to install applications through the company store, which does not have a Ukrainian language.
Applications are downloaded from the App Market, where you don’t need to register to use them. There is no doubt that such manufacturers can easily do without Google’s services, as they only need a free OS with which to do whatever they want.
The interface is customizable, you can change wallpapers, icons, etc. Gamers will like the game overlay, users of conditional Viber can create two profiles by cloning programs, and there is an infrared port for controlling household appliances.
In economy mode (minimum screen brightness level), the realme GT 6T shows 17 hours and 24 minutes in the PC Mark 10 test. If you set the backlight level to 50%, the battery life drops to 15 hours and 19 minutes. With 100% brightness, the smartphone lasts 9 hours and 57 minutes.
Genshin Impact can be played for 5 hours and 9 minutes with a high level of backlighting and maximum graphics profile. If you save money, you can play for 6-7 hours. This is noticeably less than OPPO Reno12 Pro, but the realme GT 6T has a more powerful chip, better graphics in games, and higher FPS.
The smartphone charges in less than 25 minutes from zero to 100%. Like many other BBK smartphones, the review hero shows an inaccurate battery level. When it reaches 100%, the battery continues to charge for a few more minutes with a power of up to 22 watts/
If you charge the battery «truly», then it is very difficult to charge the phone from 100% to 98-99%, it takes up to 40 minutes of active use. This is done so that marketers can show more beautiful numbers, saying that the realme GT 6T charges in 20 minutes, not 30+ minutes. In 10 minutes, the battery is replenished to 50-60%.
At the beginning of the charging process, the power is 100-118 W when the phone is cold. When we put the realme GT 6T on charge after stress tests (the phone is hot), the power drops to 50-70 watts. The smartphone adjusts the charger’s power itself, depending on the temperature, so as not to harm the battery.
A classic Chinese mid-range smartphone that will not disappoint all Android fans, although the most demanding users may be left with an unpleasant aftertaste after the Apple iPhone.
Unobtrusive ads in the firmware, poor portrait mode performance, low video quality in low light – these are all serious arguments that will annoy perfectionists, but after the old Android flagship of Motorola, I had a lot of pleasant impressions.
Some people may not like the plastic body and elongated proportions, but there’s no getting away from it because compact 16:9 smartphones are no longer interesting to the mass consumer, and plastic has helped reduce the cost of the device.
In general, the realme GT 6T can be recommended to mobile gamers (which I am not), because it is currently the best solution on the market for video games: it charges quickly, holds a charge well, the processor is efficient and runs all games, and the screen is bright enough to play on the beach.
Officially imported version realme GT 6T 8/256 GB will cost 21,000 hryvnias, although some stores offer discounts of up to 18,000 hryvnias. A modification with 12 GB of RAM costs 1000-1500 UAH more.
Senior model realme GT 6 The 12/256 GB version costs 23,000 hryvnias, while the 16/512 GB version is asked for at least 30,000 hryvnias. This is a different price category.
Despite its age, the compact Apple iPhone 12 has an equally productive processor and is also good at recording video. The disadvantage is the smaller storage capacity and slower charging. The 128 GB version can be found for 17000-18000 hryvnias.
Google Pixel 8a – a simplified version of the current flagship, which is either hated or adored. A good option for those who want a compact phone. The price is 18000 hryvnias.
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion will appeal to fans of large storage because the 12/512 GB version costs only 15500 UAH. The processor is noticeably weaker and charging is slower, but the price is nice at a discount.
Internal competitor OPPO Reno12 from BBK has a macro lens, Dimensity 7300 processor, metal and plastic body, and 12 GB of RAM. The price is 17500 hryvnias.
A slightly more expensive Korean competitor Samsung Galaxy A55 has a memory card slot, three cameras, and better IP67 protection, but the review hero has better gaming performance. The price is 19900 UAH.
