After her friend becomes pregnant, Lainey starts to envy and decides to wear a fake belly to imitate her pregnancy. Everything becomes significantly complicated when the heroine meets the man of her dreams.
The new comedy project from Netflix was overseen by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison company, and the lead role was performed by popular American stand-up comedian and comedic actress Amy Schumer. Obviously, the film leans towards unpretentious comedies from the 2000s, somewhat related to the theme of pregnancy — «Knocked Up» (2007), «Baby on Board» (2008) and especially «Labor Pains» (2009), where Lindsay Lohan, a current regular in comedies from Netflix, took on a pretended pregnancy.
«The Damned»

The events of the film take place in the 19th century, during a harsh winter near the shores of a small Icelandic village. It is there that a shipwreck occurs. Young woman Eva is forced to make a difficult choice between saving the victims and preserving the last food supplies for the residents. But every decision has its price, and as shadows of ancient Icelandic legends begin to approach from the darkness, and the guilt for what has been done turns into something terrifying, the heroine faces severe hardships.

Marvin Gable is a successful realtor whose past as a ruthless killer comes back to haunt him when a former colleague informs him that his brother is hunting him. The lead role in director Jonathan Eusebio’s debut is played by the director’s namesake — the star of the sensational film about the multiverse of madness «Everything Everywhere All at Once» (2022), as well as the performer of the role of Ouroboros in the second season of «Loki» Jonathan Ke Quan.
The plot of the film is based on Russell Banks’s novel «Foregone» from 2021. The direction is handled by Paul Schrader, who recently admitted that he is fascinated by the screenplay ideas proposed by ChatGPT. The main roles are performed by Richard Gere, who was recently mentioned thanks to the series «The Agency», and Jacob Elordi. They portray, respectively, the younger and older versions of the main character.
«The Silent Hour»

Sixteen months after an accident at work that nearly caused him to lose his hearing, Boston police detective Frank Shaw and his partner find themselves drawn into a dangerous conflict. They must protect a deaf murder witness, who is being targeted by a team of corrupt police officers. Thus, a tense standoff ensues in the residential complex where the girl lives.
Recently, Joel Kinnaman has been drawn to action films related to silence — here he is trying to fight deafness, while his previous project was the film «Silent Night» (2023) by John Woo, in which there are almost no dialogues. Kinnaman is joined on set by Sandra May Frank, Mekhi Phifer, and Mark Strong.
«The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep»

The plot of the animated film set in the universe of «The Witcher» revolves around Geralt of Rivia, who is tasked with investigating a series of attacks on a coastal town. In connection with this, he discovers a centuries-old conflict between the inhabitants of this place and those who live in the ocean abyss.
«Sirens of the Deep» is the second full-length animated project from Netflix based on the cult book cycle by Andrzej Sapkowski; in this case, the plot is based on the story «A Little Sacrifice». After Henry Cavill left the show «The Witcher», Doug Cockle, who lent his voice to Geralt of Rivia in the namesake series of video games, returned to voice the titular hero. The premiere is expected on Netflix on February 11.
«Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy»

Bridget Jones is now 51 years old, and currently, she is a widow with two children. The heroine tries to be active on social networks and dating sites. Soon in Bridget’s life, two romantic interests appear: a teacher at her children’s school, Mr. Wallaker, and a young man named Roxster. Can the British journalist be happy again?
«Mad About the Boy» is based on the eponymous novel by Helen Fielding, which appeared on bookstore shelves in 2013, and has become the fourth film in the Bridget Jones movie series. The novelty follows the contemporary cinematographic trend of pairing young men and, let’s say, experienced women on screen — literally last month on the big screens Nicole Kidman delved into sexual games with 28-year-old Harris Dickinson in «Babygirl».
In the fourth installment, Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson return to their roles. They are joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leo Woodall, and Isla Fisher. The film appropriately hits the screens just before Valentine’s Day.
«Here»

The screenplay is based on the graphic novel «Here» (2014) by Richard McGuire, whose events take place in New England, starting from the era before our era and ending in the distant future. However, the main part of the story unfolds in the 20th and the first decades of the 21st century. It is a story about love, loss, hope, struggle, and more. Throughout the entire film, the camera remains in a fixed position.
More than 30 years after the release of «Forrest Gump», the main team is essentially reuniting on the set — Tom Hanks and Robin Wright directly in the frame, and off it — director Robert Zemeckis, screenwriter Eric Roth, cinematographer Don Burgess, and composer Alan Silvestri.
The film was scheduled for release in December, as we wrote in the relevant article, however, it was later canceled and, as it turned out, postponed to a later date. After the series «Falcon and the Winter Soldier» (2021), Anthony Mackie returns to the role of Cap, and Liv Tyler, respectively, reincarnates as Betty Ross, as she did at the beginning of the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in «The Incredible Hulk» (2008). Taking the place of William Hurt, who portrayed Thaddeus Ross since 2008 until his death in 2022, is none other than Harrison Ford, who also appears before the audience as the Red Hulk.

«The Gorge»

On both sides of the mysterious gorge are watchtowers, where two elite snipers have been stationed. Their task is to observe and respond to any activity of the mysterious evil lurking at the bottom of the abyss. Despite contacts between the towers being forbidden, the two guards eventually feel a romantic connection. However, their idyll comes to an end when one of them indeed falls into the «gate to hell».
Famous horror maker Scott Derrickson this time spices up the chilling story with a touch of romance, no wonder since the film premieres on the Apple service on Valentine’s Day. The main roles are played by Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sigourney Weaver.
«A Real Pain»

American Jews, cousins David and Benji, were once very close, but eventually, their paths diverged. After the death of their grandmother, who was able to survive during the Holocaust, the main characters reunite and embark on an emotional journey to the most tragic Polish sites of World War II.
After its premiere at the «Sundance» film festival, the new and already second directorial work of Jesse Eisenberg received many favorable reviews from film critics and was awarded the prize for the best screenplay. Eisenberg’s partner on the set was Kieran Culkin, who is up for an «Oscar» for this role.
«The Brutalist»

This story begins in the late 40s and spans over 30 years of the lives of the main characters. A Hungarian Jew, architect Laszlo Tot, who managed to survive Auschwitz, emigrated to Philadelphia with his wife Erzsebet. There, the man meets businessman Harrison Lee Van Buren and agrees to implement his ambitious plan — to build a monumental architectural project. However, ultimately, this leads to catastrophic consequences.
The winner of the recent «Golden Globe», and possibly, future «Oscar» (but this is not certain), «The Brutalist» is called one of the best films of 2024, in particular by the American Institute of Film Arts. Ten nominations for the Academy Awards, including Best Picture, confirm this. We will be able to find out what the epic 3.5-hour film by director Brady Corbet is about on February 20.
«The Monkey»

When twin brothers Hal and Bill find their father’s toy monkey in the attic, they witness horrific deaths. The boys decide to get rid of this find, and later their paths diverge. However, soon the horror returns to the lives of the characters, and they will have to forget about old quarrels and unite efforts to fight the mysterious evil.
The plot of «The Monkey» is based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name, which was published back in 1980 and included in the collection «Skeleton Crew» five years later. The director of the film is Osgood Perkins, who last year made quite a stir with his sensational «Longlegs», and the main roles were taken by Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, and Sara Levy. Judging by the first reactions of film critics, the film turned out to be at least emotional.
«Old Guy»

Hired assassin Danny Dolinsky, who is on the verge of retirement due to arthritis, gets a new chance to return to the game when he agrees to train a young prodigy-assassin Vilborg. The subsequent mission in Northern Ireland is complicated by Danny’s fears that Vilborg is part of a plan to literally eliminate the old guard in favor of a new generation.
«Old Guy» is the new comedy action movie by genre craftsman Simon West («Con Air», «Lara Croft: Tomb Raider», «The Expendables 2») starring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, and Cooper Hoffman in the leading roles.
«Cleaner»

At the annual celebration of the bosses of an energy company held in London’s The Shard, radically-minded activists take hostages and threaten to blow up the building if the police intervene. In doing so, they aim to expose the corruption of the corporation’s executives. Disgraced and well-trained former soldier Joey Lock, who works as a window cleaner in the building, tries to save the hostages when she learns that her older brother is among them.
Terrorists, hostages, skyscraper, this time a lone heroine — it seems something similar we have already seen before, and more than once. The staging of another McLean-like adventure is managed by 81-year-old Martin Campbell, who once released the high-class «Casino Royale» (2006) and, on the contrary, the disgraceful «Green Lantern» (2011). Despite his advanced age, he is still actively making films, mostly straightforward action movies like «Flashback» (2022) with Liam Neeson or «Dirty Angels» (2024) with Eva Green.
In «Cleaner» the eternal antagonism will be handled by former King Arthur and Sam Spade Clive Owen on one side and still active Jedi Rey Daisy Ridley on the other. The skyscraper takeover is scheduled for February 27.
«September 5»

The film tells about the terrorist attack at the 1972 Munich Olympics from the perspective of the ABC Sports film crew and their coverage of these tragic events on television. The film extensively uses archival footage from ABC reports. «September 5» was nominated for a «Golden Globe» in the category of Best Dramatic Film, but lost to the aforementioned «The Brutalist». The film is nominated for the «Oscar» in the Best Original Screenplay category.
