Electric cars are becoming more and more common on Ukrainian roads, and the number of owners has already reached 100 thousand. The market is full of offers, so we have compiled a list of the most affordable and interesting representatives, which, in our opinion, are worthy of attention.
I am constantly asked what kind of electric vehicle to choose for everyday driving around the city. Yes, people are not scared off by power outages and rising prices for kilowatts. Of course, an electric car is most often the second car in the family. And in this case, it is really convenient. Whatever one may say, an electric car is more profitable to use than conventional gasoline and diesel cars, especially as fuel prices are expected to rise. The absence of regular maintenance with the change of basic fluids and filters makes the «electric train» practical. The question is certainly controversial because electric cars are pricier. But it turns out not all of them are. And every year the difference is getting smaller, and the range of electric vehicles is getting longer.
So let’s see what the market offers in terms of the most affordable electric cars in 2024. Of course, we won’t take into account newcomers from China at all, but only brands that already have a certain history and quality.

10. Opel Mokka-e
Cost: 1,291,000 UAH
Battery: 50 kWh
Power reserve: 338 km
Indeed, it is worth mentioning the official market representatives first. And Opel Mokka-e is one of the first electric vehicles from Stellantis to come to Ukraine. This is a compact crossover that offers a fairly rich equipment package. It is equipped with a 136 hp electric motor and a 50 kWh battery that guarantees a range of up to 338 km. If we look at real mileage, the figure will drop to 280 km.
9. Nissan Leaf
Cost: 1 196 760 UAH
Battery: 40 kWh
Power reserve: 380 km
There is no point in telling you much about the legendary electric car. You already understand what it is capable of. It will serve for a long time, reliably and faithfully. The larger battery in this generation allows you to drive even further, but not at the level of competitors. So Nissan continues to reward consumers with more name recognition and an official manufacturer’s warranty, along with service.
It is equipped with a 150 hp synchronous electric motor and can accelerate to 144 km/h. Its range is close to the real 280 km.
8. Honda eNP1
Cost: 1 117 341 UAH
Battery: 68.8 kWh
Power reserve: 510 km
The Honda eNP1 is not quite the Honda we are used to. This is an exclusively electric car for the Asian market. It is manufactured at the GAC-Honda plant and is based on the fresh Honda eN Architecture F platform, which is a modified second-generation Honda Vezel platform. According to Honda, this is what modern electric vehicles should look like. Of course, the eNP1 offers many technological and comfort features.
It is equipped with a 204 hp electric motor, which is powered by a 68.8 kWh battery, providing a range of 510 km. There is a less powerful version with 180 hp and a range of up to 420 km.
7. Toyota bZ4X
Cost: 1 089 307 UAH
Battery: 66.7 kWh
Power reserve: 560 km
We couldn’t help but mention this global brand, which will always be a leader, no matter what cars they produce. Historically, Toyota’s margin of trust has been limitless. And this is the kind of electric car that inspires the most confidence in consumers. We just need to remember that cars come to Ukraine from China. Accordingly, you need to be careful. Toyota bZ4X — is a fresh model of the brand and looks quite modern and futuristic. Only in the cabin, it remains the same familiar Toyota with a fairly simple style.
The BYD Yuan Plus EV has a 204 hp electric motor that accelerates the car to the first 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It is a great and comfortable option for those who decide to buy a Chinese electric car.
5. MG4
Cost: 999 600 UAH
Battery: 64 kWh
Power reserve: 435 km
This electric vehicle has already made a splash because it has a stylish design, rich equipment, an official importer’s warranty, and after-sales service. Despite its Chinese origin, the halo of the English brand adds confidence. Given the history of MG in our market, the overall impression is quite positive. Their electric cars are definitely comfortable and practical.
The MG4 is equipped with a 201 hp electric motor and has a 64 kWh battery, which provides a range of 435 km (WLTP) in the LUX version. There is also a smaller version with a 51 kWh battery and a range of up to 350 km (WLTP).
4. Volkswagen ID.3
Cost: 998,012 UAH
Battery: 52.8 kWh
Power reserve: 450 km
The VW iD3 is quite popular among users and was once the beginning of the brand’s electric era, as it was created as an electric car. The golf-class model is already in its second generation, which has added more practical features and fresh details to its appearance. Today it is one of the most desirable electric vehicles on the market. The cost plays an important role in this. Officially, Volkswagen ID.3 is not imported to Ukraine, but there are many versions from China available at a price starting at UAH 818,370.
The ID.3 is driven by a 170 hp electric motor powered by a 52.8 kWh battery. According to official data, the electric car can travel up to 450 km, but the actual distance will be about 380 km. These are decent figures, which are complemented by a rich set of equipment and active safety systems. Therefore, even the fact that it is manufactured in China does not deter the brand’s fans, but caution and verification are required when purchasing such cars from a non-authorized dealer.
3. DongFeng SKY EV01
Cost: 877 052 UAH
Battery: 50.8 kWh
Power reserve: 445 km
No European electric car is yet able to compete with Chinese representatives in terms of price, given that they offer less money with a longer range and a set of practical functions in their configurations. Therefore, this representative is imported to Ukraine by gray dealers, but it has a chance for life. DongFeng is one of the leading brands in China with quite a bit of experience in car manufacturing.
The DongFeng SKY EV01 has decent dimensions that put it on par with midsize crossovers like the Kia Sportage. The cabin comfortably accommodates five people, and there is enough luggage space behind (360 liters in the luggage compartment).
The electric vehicle is equipped with a 163 hp engine, and the top speed is limited to 165 km/h. These are decent figures, given the ability to travel up to 445 km and a rich equipment.
2. Dacia Spring Electric
Cost: 860 884 UAH
Battery: 29 kWh
Power reserve: 225 km
This electric car appeared in Europe in 2020 and became the most affordable on the market. Its price started at 16,990 euros. In fact, the Dacia Spring Electric is an analog of the Chinese version of the Renault City K-ZE, but it has been modified to meet European safety standards. It has four seats with a 300-liter trunk and a ground clearance of 150 mm. You won’t find any off-road capabilities in it. The cross-country ability will be at an average level, but it is comfortable and simple.
It is equipped with a 45 hp electric motor and the ability to accelerate the car to 125 km/h.
1. Citroen Ami
Cost: 239,000 UAH
Battery: 5.5 kWh
Power reserve: 69 km
Of course, the Citroen Ami is not exactly an electric car, but rather a gadget that can be ordered online. It is a convenient alternative to an electric scooter or moped. It can be a two-seater or a single-seater (Cargo) for transporting small parcels. The Tiny for passenger has a small storage space behind the seats, while the Cargo offers more luggage space and the ability to carry up to 140 kg of cargo.
This ultra-compact is exclusively a city dweller. It measures 2.41 meters long, 1.39 meters wide and 1.52 meters high, allowing it to be parked on either side. The turning radius is 7.2 meters. It is maneuverable, easy to operate and maintain. It is equipped with an 8 hp electric motor and has a top speed of 45 km/h. Due to its small battery and 69 km range, it is only suitable for short trips.
Of course, the last representative and the cheapest electric car is more of a joke because it’s hard to call it a car. But it is worthy of attention. In general, it is difficult for users to choose today. The market is full of different models and brands, most of which come to us from China. And this is not a condemnation, but rather a serious competition because there are really worthy and interesting cars among them.
