The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that «in recent months» most of the summonses were sent to unemployed people who «do not pay a single hryvnia in taxes».
«Today, 98% of the summonses generated through the Oberih register are sent to people who do not pay a single hryvnia in taxes and are not registered as working people», — Shmyhal said at the 10th Kyiv International Economic Forum (via interfax). «In fact, today the priority of mobilization is given to people who are not working, the unemployed».
The Prime Minister emphasized that the registers now make it possible to track whether a person pays taxes, regardless of whether they are an entrepreneur, hired or self-employed specialist.
«A very simple principle, I think it is absolutely clear to everyone,» Shmygal added.
Shmyhal went on to emphasize the need to pay taxes in wartime, which will help pay salaries to the military.
«Mobilization continues. The number of mobilized people is — 250 thousand. This is a plus to the number of the Armed Forces we have had for these 2.5 years. These people need to be paid salaries and provided with appropriate facilities».
In August, at the forum «Ukraine 2024. Independence» forum, Shmyhal announced a number of measures to de-shadow the economy, which will be implemented on the principle of «fight or work». He also noted that during the full-scale war, Ukraine lost 3.5 million jobs — currently there are 8 million, while at least 10 million are needed to support the army.
