Astropad has released a Bookcase case that allows you to turn your smartphone into an e-book.
The Bookcase is equipped with a plastic holder with magnets that makes smartphones comfortable in your hand and is similar in shape and size to Kindle readers. Between the handles is a MagSafe mount that works with iPhone and many Android devices.
Perhaps the best of what the Bookcase — the ability to read books on a smartphone without distraction (something Astropad is trying to recreate with the NFC chip and a new mobile app). The smartphone can be further customized to automatically open your favorite reading app and temporarily disable notifications — after connecting to the case.
Astropad — is a small company that has made a name for itself with apps and accessories that have turned iPads into drawing tablets and wireless displays similar to Wacom. The Bookcase, priced at $50, fits right in with these offerings — it will start shipping later this year.
