A screenshot from the CPU-Z utility has been leaked online, which demonstrates the main characteristics of the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor. This model is an improvement on the high-end Ryzen 9 9000 series processors and features an additional L3 cache thanks to 3D V-Cache technology. The leaked information confirms that the frequencies of AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D will not be reduced compared to the version without X3D, the processor will provide the same level of Boost frequency.
Technical specifications of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- The code name is Granite-Ridge, which confirms that it belongs to the Ryzen 9000 series.
- Cores/threads: The processor has 16 cores and supports 32 threads.
- Boost frequency: The processor delivers the same 5.7 GHz peak frequency as the non-X3D version (5.65 GHz to be exact).
- TDP: Maintains the same 170W power consumption as the Ryzen 9950X.
- Cache: The L3 cache configuration is — 96 + 32 MB, which gives a total of 128 MB of L3 and 144 MB with L2.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor has two CCD modules (Core Complex Die), each of which contains 8 processing cores and 32 MB of L3 cache. One of them is equipped with an additional 64 MB cache chip located under the CCD.

Unlike previous generations, the new design with the cache chip under the CCD allows the cores to come into direct contact with the heat spreader cover. This provides improved cooling and allows for high clock speeds to be maintained, as well as opening up the potential for further overclocking.
AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D processors are expected to be unveiled at CES 2025, along with new graphics cards based on RDNA 4 architecture, such as the Radeon RX 9070 XT, and FSR 4 technology.
