It turns out that former US President Barack Obama could get a cameo in the most popular Apple TV+ series.
During his visit to the show, Jimmy Kimmel, director and producer of the Severance series, said that he offered Obama to voice the voice of the Lumon Industries building in an animated video that was shown to employees of the macro data processing department at the start of the second season. However, the former president refused, citing his busy schedule, while noting that he was a big fan of the show.
«I did not ask him personally. I knew someone who knew his lawyer, and his lawyer said he could pass on the request. About two days later, I got an email from President Barack Obama saying: “Hey, Ben, I’m a big fan of the show, I love the first season and I’m looking forward to the second… But I don’t think I have any time in my schedule,»” Stiller said.
Earlier, «Severance» showrunner Dan Erickson noted that they were looking for a star whose voice would evoke certain associations with», and eventually Keanu Reeves was cast.
«We considered a few different people for the role and always wanted it to be someone that people have a certain association with. Also, the voice had to reflect the warmth and friendliness of Lumon in the context of this video».
Currently, the first season of the series is streaming on Apple TV+ and seven episodes of the second season are available (out of a total of ten — the last one will be released on March 21). As a reminder, «Severance» has already become the most popular show in the history of streaming, and has pushed the long-time leader «Ted Lasso» off the top spot
«Severance» tells the story of employees of the technology corporation Lumon Industries who agreed to a surgical procedure that separated their work memories from their home memories and effectively created two personalities in one body. The series stars Adam Scott, Tramell Tillman, Britt Lover, Zach Cherry, Jen Tulloch, Michael Chernus, Deacon Luckman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette.
Initially, the second season of «Severance» was rated at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, naming it one of the best shows of the year. The series has now been officially renewed for a third season, and the creators hinted at what the final will be like.
