
The British actor shared behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of «Avengers» during the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Benedict Cumberbatch said about an impromptu moment on the set of «Avengers: Infinity War», when his character Dr. Strange called Tony Stark «a douchebag».
The situation arose after Iron Man asked about Strange’s actions during the battle. The irritated magician replied: «Protecting your reality, douchebag», causing a favorable reaction from the entire film crew.
The actor praised his work in large-scale franchises, especially noting the talent of Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. According to him, blockbusters can carry important social messages, such as political elements in «Captain America» and spiritual themes in «Dr. Strange».
Cumberbatch also shared his memories of playing Alan Turing in «The Imitation Game», where he first felt such a deep emotional connection with the character that he could not hold back tears during the filming of the scene of the mathematician’s chemical castration.
Speaking about his upcoming projects, the actor announced his work in the movie Roses with Olivia Colman and Wes Anderson’s new film, tentatively titled «The Phoenician Scheme».
