Ministry of Defense presented project «Contract 18-24» for young Ukrainians who want to voluntarily join the army.
The project, designed exclusively for Ukrainians aged 18-24, will last for a year and involves three stages of preparation:
- Basic general military training
- Professional training in the chosen specialty
- Adaptation course in a military unit
The contract guarantees payment of financial assistance to volunteers in the amount of UAH 1 million during the year of service:
- UAH 200 thousand after signing the contract
- UAH 300 thousand after starting the service
- UAH 500 thousand during service
It is noted that young volunteers who joined the army before the new contract terms also may be eligible for payment.
«Contract 18-24 — It is not a compulsion, mobilization or obligation. It is an opportunity for people to make a conscious choice, gain combat experience and financial stability in just one year. It is up to the volunteer to decide whether to continue serving or return to civilian life, having unique perspectives», — says Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
In general, according to Umerov, the total annual income of program participants «Contract 18-24» can reach UAH 2 million
Among other bonuses provided by the contract:
- Monthly allowance of up to UAH 120 thousand
- Zero percent mortgage
- Education at public expense
- Free medical care (including dental prosthetics)
- The right to travel abroad after a year of service
- Exemption from mobilization one year after completion of service
