Ukrainian officials, along with international partners, are discussing the creation of a new digital platform to communicate with Ukrainians living abroad. This tool aims to assist those planning to return to Ukraine in finding housing and employment. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Dariya Marchak.
“We’re talking with international partners, with donors, about creating a digital tool. For instance, we call it ‘e-Homeland’ for ourselves, though the name might change. It’s about creating a digital tool for interacting with Ukrainians abroad, which will help those considering the possibility of returning to Ukraine to look for both jobs and housing, and to get to know the communities they could potentially return to,” explained Marchak.
The official did not disclose when the digital service “e-Homeland” might be launched.
Meanwhile, Dariya Marchak talked about another area of focus – providing housing for families returning to Ukraine.
According to the official, the government has already approved a resolution to introduce subsidies for housing rent. This program will operate similarly to utility subsidies. Assistance will be provided to families who do not have sufficient income to pay rent independently. A condition for receiving the subsidy is having an official rental agreement. Moreover, the state will compensate part of the tax rate for landlords to encourage them to enter into official rental agreements.
Marchak emphasized that the government is focusing its efforts on three main groups of Ukrainians abroad:
The official highlighted that the new policies being developed are targeted specifically at these three categories of Ukrainians. The main focus is on employment opportunities and establishing systematic communication with Ukrainians abroad. The primary goal is to preserve their loyalty and strengthen their connection with Ukraine as a state.
