The developers of the upcoming sci-fi role-playing game Exodus have released a new trailer for the project, featuring Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey as the narrator. This is a brand new AAA game.
The game was first announced at The Game Awards at the end of last year, stating that McConaughey would be making his video game debut. Now we hear him for the first time. It is not yet clear what role the actor will play in this project, although it is all part of the game’s mysterious storyline.
The trailer introduces Mara Yama, probably the game’s villain. According to a new post on the developers’ blog, they are «monstrous celestials distorted into horrific shapes» and «unlike anything humanity has ever faced in the battle for survival». These creatures «have no known territory or homeworld, living in vast space citadels hidden in uninhabited regions of space».
All this is very exciting, but the developers have not yet demonstrated Exodus gameplay. Therefore, it is unclear what to expect from the game. Although the developers have recently promised that the gameplay will be revealed soon.
The game is developed by Archetype Entertainment, a division of Hasbro Wizards of the Coast. The studio is run by two former Bioware employees: James Olen and Chad Robertson. Olen worked on many BioWare games as a creative director and lead designer, including Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age: Origins, while Robertson was the head of services at Anthem.
So far, there is no information about the release date of Exodus.
